What are the selection criteria for nominees?

Demonstrated excellence in their fields of endeavour.

Inspiration and / or a role model to other youths. |

Made other contributions to the society. |

Achieved other Awards not considered in the above. |
What is meant by “other contributions to the society”?
This refers to the nominee’s community involvement which could include mentoring others, conducting workshops/talks dialogue sessions, initiating new programmes to promote the field, being active members of boards, and performing community service etc.
If someone has previously won the Award, can they be nominated again?
No. An individual / team can only be conferred the Award once. However, SYA Individual and Team recipients aged 45 years and below can be nominated for the Medal of Commendation (MOC) five years after they have received the Award.
If I nominate someone and they do not win, can I nominate them the following year?
Yes, you can nominate them as many times as you like so long as the nominee is aged 35 years old and below at the time of nomination. For teams, at least 60% of the members have to be aged 35 years and below.
